After some trepidations and delays, Neato Robotics has announced they are launching their new XV-11 spatially smart robot vacuum on July 15th. On this date, the robot will be available for preorder at various retail locations and will ship out in August 2010.
For those who do not remember this robot, it is smarter than its famous [...]
The Make website just posted an excellent tutorial artice by Dustyn Roberts covering one of the most critical areas of robot design, the gears that make everything move, or at least transfer power efficiently from motors to wheels and limbs. Make: How-To: Make your own gears
Most of the action figures for the GI Joe movie Rise of Cobra have been hit or miss with fans. Some are more popular than others. This special edition Baroness, for example, is quite liked. Some of the 12 inch Cobra figures are kinda cool as well. These are definitely for older children.
For parents who [...]
Event if China was absent from the 2010 soccer World Cup in South Africa, this did not prevent it from winning a different world cup: the soccer category of the robot Olympics.
The Olympic Games for humanoid robots was organized by the Harbin Institute of Technology in China.
18 universities from around the world were there for [...]
Robot Rodem is a new type of robotic mobile vehicle like a Segway because it can be controlled via body movements.
It is mainly intended for people with disabilities and those elderly who are frail.
But, it can also be used as an indoor vehicle for anyone.
Rodem is steered either with a joystick or body balance indicating [...]
Robo Pong by Newgy is a robot which can train you in table tennis by throwing the ball to you.
Along the same principle as ball throwers in tennis, Robo Pong throws the ball to you at regular intervals.
The big advantage of this machine is that it also retrieves the balls that you return to it [...]
This is a battery-operated 19-inch Space Frontier Apollo 15 Rocket. It was manufactured by KY of Japan in the 1960s.
Industrial robots the most sophisticated and most versatile … These bots are a ballet indefatigable not without a certain elegance.

It’s a robot sorting and packaging. We admire the speed at which it operates. In four seconds it can move 14 objects or it can move three pound seven-tenths of a second.
It is supposed [...]
It’s just a great idea! She was especially interested in the complexity of solving seemingly simple task – to protect them from direct sunlight. While most people use blinds and similar devices in the lab, Daniela Russ, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) decided to go in an unusual way and built a robot that can [...]
NASA engineers have developed a robot able to navigate in space and maneuver on the ground. Their trials were held in Moses Lake, Washington. There have been several tests 12-wheeled automated transport and six-legged rover that can carry massive loads. Also, tests were carried out drilling and mapping robot. According to the trial committee, these [...]
Cyber Dyne Company decided to start mass production of exoskeleton. Apparatus HAL [hybrid assistive limb, or "hybrid auxiliary limb], designed to increase the physical strength of the owner. Using sensors attached to human skin, exoskeleton determines which muscles are going to involve people, and creates a directed effort. For the same reason people do not [...]
While Big Dog runs field trials (see note “Carrying loads on the four-legged walking robots”), His little brother – Little Dog – improving their skills in the laboratory. Both the robot was developed by Boston Dynamics, working on order of U.S. Advanced Research Projects Agency of the Ministry of Defense (DARPA) and was originally intended [...]
Japanese Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro and Robotics (Hiroshi Ishiguro) first became known to the public through the creation of his “twin”, the robot Geminoid HI-1. Remote-controlled, he was able to convey basic emotions of its operator and transmit his voice with built-in speakers. The main purpose of this robot was to study the various psychological aspects [...]
The company Boston Dynamics is widely known in the robotics market due to its successful invention – enduring four-legged Big Dog. This robot is the size of a large dog to become a good help the soldiers, Marines – it can be controlled, he should go where to the right, and thus carries a payload [...]
Matt Bounding, a student at the University of Arizona, developed and built a robotic spider that automatically learns to walk whenever it include. The robot is equipped with a webcam; it analyzes the image and comparing them with the movement of their own feet, learning to walk.If by some chance “spider” loses one of its [...]
Tactile, acoustic, and vision sensors provide robots with perceptual capabilities, enabling them to explore and analyze their environment in order to behave more intelligently. The intelligent robot system KAMRO uses several camera systems to generate an environment model in order to perform complex assembly tasks. To interact with this robot system, it would be an [...]
Higher intelligence and greater autonomy of more advanced robot systems increase the requirements for the design of a flexible interface to control the system on different levels of abstraction. In the Kamro (Karlsruhe Autonomous Mobile Robot) project, for example, an autonomous mobile robot (Fig. 1) for assembly tasks is being developed which also has the [...]
